What are the top 10 places to surf in February?

 This would be my list:

1.     Baja California, Mexico

In Mexico the mother of all surfing locations is certainly Baja California and as far as surfing is concerned the world-class waves encountered here provide superb opportunities for everyone with a surf board. In fact, this is why people come from all over the globe to search for those big ones for which this location is so popular.

2.     Algarve, Portugal

Over the last couple of years surfing has grown in popularity in Portugal and increasing numbers of international surfers now visit these shores. Among the identified surfing locations in Portugal, Algarve stands out like a light house in a desert. One of the attractions is the warm water which is so clear that schools of fish can be clearly seen as they pass underneath your surfboard.

3.     Aserradores, Nicaragua

There maybe thousands of spots better known in association with surfing than Asserradores but that is quickly changing as more people learn about the amazing surf spots which have already been uncovered along these shores. There is now upmarket holiday accommodation available so that those who come to ride the big waves can live in comfort.

4.     Mirissa Beach, Sri Lanka

The average traveler is unlikely to place Sri Lanka on his list of places to visit but the same cannot be said for surfers and back packers. Increasing numbers of people are now hearing favorable reports about this country, especially the hospitality, the unique culture, the food and off course the Sri Lankan coastline. The weather is superb all year round and the water is warm.

5.     Aguada, Puerto Rico

The high quality point breaks in the northwest region of Puerto Rico is attracting surfers like a candle attracts moths. It also helps that the water is warm and people can mostly ignore the reports about the region been overly windy, those winds mostly blow off shore and therefore seldom impact surfers.

6.     South Coast, Barbados

One of the primary attractions of South Coast is the consistently moderate weather conditions and furthermore this is the perfect spot for beginners because of the wave formations on the south coast of Barbados. It is a fun place with smooth rides where newbies can quickly and safely master the basics.

7.     Taghazoute, Morocco

Many surfers have now come to rely on Morocco because of the consistently good surfing conditions experienced here. Although it is relatively close by plane to most European centers, it is a completely different zone culturally. The weather is also different and from a surfing perspective the quality is the waves are something which ensures that surfers always come back.

8.     Siargao, Philippines

When surfers discuss surfing destinations, Siargao always comes up in the discussion. This region provides some of the very best surfing opportunities in the Asian continent with waves of 3.5m and higher. The barreling wave of Siargao has become legendary in the annals of surfing which is why this location will always be popular.

9.     Madeira Island, Portugal

Many places in Europe can be cloudy and somber, especially in winter but this does not apply to sunny Portugal. There is so much for the surfing enthusiast to experience such as the sizable surf breaks at many places along the thousand mile long coastline. There are more waves to ride than most surfers would expect.

10.   Durban, South Africa

South Africa remains a popular African destination and as far as summer surfing is concerned, people will find the temperature all along the east coast from Richards Bay down to the wild coast of Transkei to be perfect from October through to April.
